Little Leather Sketchbook

The thumbnails below are images from a little leather sketchbook that I wrote and drew in from July 16, through December 16, 2003. These are the germinal drawings and writings that ultimately have led to the 14 Questions for Eve paintings, that I'm finishing up now (November 2005), in anticipation of the exhibit scheduled for January 28th, 2006.
Prior to the summer of 2003, and particularly after I had started teaching at the beginning of 2002, I had gotten into the habit of writing notes and doing drawings on whatever scraps of paper I found handy. Occasionally I would make a little paperbound booklet for myself to carry in my back pocket, but I found that the short lifespan of papercovers, caused the books to become worn out if I didn't fill them up quickly. So, it occurred to me to make a nice leather bound book. It was a solution that worked well, although once I finished it, I never got around to making a replacement and went back to scraps of paper. Maybe I'll make myself another sometime soon.
It's been a couple years since I drew and wrote in this sketchbook, but the drawings, thoughts, ideas, poems are still very much alive, and I guess, finally coming to conclusion.
